MATERIALS:
1” Binder with 5 dividers Loose-leaf paper
1 pack of 100 lined white index cards Colored pencils
5 glue sticks 4 pack ultra fine markers
ASSIGNMENTS:
Students will explore the physical geography, history, and culture of various countries by reading the textbook, completing textbook/map activities, taking notes, and completing Cultural Fair projects. Students are expected to study current events by watching the news, reading a newspaper, or news on the internet, and participating in class discussions.
GRADES:
Grades will be an average of 60% Assessments (tests, quizzes, and projects), 30% Homework (graded for correctness), and 10% Miscellaneous (graded for completion).
GRADING SCALE:
90-100 = A, 80-89 = B, 70-79 = C, 60-69 = D, 50-59 = F
HOMEWORK/MISCELLANEOUS:
Most homework worksheets are available online.
EXTRA CREDIT:
Students may earn extra credit by bringing in a news article from a newspaper or the internet and presenting it to the class. They may bring in one article a day for a total of almost 40 points each trimester. Articles may not be more than one week old.
CULTURAL FAIR PROJECT:
All students are required to research a country that is part of their heritage and complete projects based on their research. All projects will be displayed at Cultural Fair Night held in our school gymnasium in the spring. More details to follow in December.
MAKE-UP WORK:
Students are responsible for any news, notes, or homework missed when absent. Assignments WILL NOT be given before vacations. Please check the Homework section to see what was missed.
